Lynn Harrell: In Remembrance

The life of the legendary American cellist Lynn Harrell, who died suddenly in 2020, was celebrated in “Lynn Harrell: In Remembrance” held at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus Tuesday, September 21, 2021, under the musical direction of composers and conductors John Williams and William Ross, and cellist/conductor Samuel Cristler. The live concert featured Grammy® winners violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter and American soprano Christine Brewer as well as Grammy-nominated operatic baritone Rodney Gilfry; pianist Yefim Bronfman appeared by way of video.

Many Los Angeles-based musicians and talent, whom Harrell mentored and partnered with, performed in the intimate celebratory tribute organized by Lynn Harrell’s widow, the violinist Helen Nightengale and the Lynn Harrell Foundation.
